Notebooks you can search, not just store.
Steps, observations and columns of measurements all matter. Inksight keeps the shape of the page, so a notebook becomes something you can search and reuse.
Lab notebooks
Steps, settings and observations written by hand across a project.
Field notes
Site observations, counts and sampling records written up on paper.
Tables of measurements
Grids of numbers saved to Excel instead of typed in cell by cell.
OCR that ends in a document.
The original stays visible while you review the result. Nothing is hidden behind a download until you know the page was understood.
| Capability | Inksight | Basic OCR |
|---|---|---|
| Tables of measurements | Come back as rows and columns for Excel | Flattened into text |
| Headings and numbered steps | Kept as structure | Merged into one paragraph |
| Printed sheet with notes by hand | Both read on the same page | Often needs two tools |
| File types | Word, PDF, Excel and text | Plain text |
Handwriting recognition across 50+ languages.
Scan Latin-script notes in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and more, as well as Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other supported scripts. Language is detected from the page—there is no selector to configure first.
Recognition quality varies with handwriting, image clarity, page angle, and document structure. Review important names and numbers before using an export.
Before you scan a page.
How do I digitize a lab notebook?
Photograph or scan the pages, upload them as one document, check each page against its photo, then save Word, PDF, Excel or text.
Are handwritten tables of numbers kept?
Yes. Ruled and hand-drawn tables come back as rows and columns and can be saved as .xlsx. Check the numbers before you use them: a wrong digit looks exactly like a right one.
Does it read units and formulas?
Common units, formulas and small raised numbers usually come out right, but they are dense and there is no context to catch a slip. Check anything you plan to publish or quote.
Can I search across several notebooks?
Save each notebook as a document and search it in Word, or sign in and keep the documents in your Inksight library, which you can open on the web and on Android.
Does it work on printed sheets with notes added by hand?
Yes. Printed text and handwritten notes in the margin are read together on the same page.
Is it free?
Your first ten pages on the web are free, exports included. After that Inksight still reads the page and shows you a locked preview, so you can see the result before you pick a plan.
Other ways to use Inksight.
Every tool uses the same OCR and the same document library, so a page you scan here opens anywhere else you sign in.
